Hamon is chu suguha.Boshi is sugu with hakikake along the kaeri,2 mekugiana , Era is around Eisho 1504 - 1521 even though the blade looks earlier, Mounted in a great later Edo period koshirae with nicely lacquered saya , excellent fuchi kashira of Rabbit and Warabi motif ,menuki are bamboo motif, menuki iron sukashi tsuba, wari kogai, interesting toppei style saya kojiri

The Hoju tradition of the Mogusa School were from oshu province the school is believed to have started started in the early Kamakura period to the Muromachi period .Even tough some believe that the beginning dates back earlier to the Heian period, The name Hoju is a combination of two Japanese kanji, "Ho" meaning treasure and "Ju" which is celebration . Hoju swords were considered to be lucky swords and were often given as gifts for special occasions such a marriage , birthdays, etc.
Oshu province also known as Mutsu Provincewas anold province of Japan in the area of current Fukushima , Miyagi, Iwate and Aomori and the municipalities of Kazuno and Kosakain in Akita prefecture.
