NAGAMICHI (長道), 8th gen., Ansei (安政, 1854-1860), Ōshū – “Mutsu no Kuni Aizu-jū Miyoshi Nagamichi”
(陸奥国会津住三善長道), “Ōshū Aizu-jū Mutsu no Daijō Nagamichi kore o saku” (奥州会津住陸奥大掾長道作之),
“Tōoku Eyō-shin Miyoshi Nagamichi” (東奥会陽臣三善長道, “Miyoshi Nagamichi, retainer of the Aizu fief of the
eastern Ōshū region”), “Mutsu no Kuni Aizu-jū katana-kaji-tōryō Miyoshi Nagamichi” (陸奥国会津住刀鍛冶棟梁),
“Miyoshi Nagamichi” (三善長道), he signed sometimes also with the supplement “chū-seishin” (抽精神, about “forged
with pure spirit”), real name Miyoshi Gonpachi (三善権八), he changed his first name later to Tōshirō (藤四郎), it is
said that he was the adopted son of the 7th gen. Nagamich, because of the fact that he often signed with the supplement
katana-kaji-tōryō, he is also referred to as Tōryō-Nagamichi (棟梁長道), a tradition says that he studied also under Nankai
– 739 –
Tarō Tomotaka (南海太郎朝尊), he died on the 27th day of the eleventh month Keiō one (慶応, 1865) at the age of 70,
