Echigo no Kami Kanesada (Shodai) (越後守包貞「初代」) (1st generation)
Anʼei yon kinoto-hitsujidoshi jūgatsu nijūichinichi, ō-karigane kore o kiru
(安永四⼄未年⼗⽉廿⼀⽇、⼤鳫⾦切之) ‒ “Cut on the 21st day of the tenth
month Anʼei four (1775), year of the sheep, through a body at the height of
the armpits.”

and rank it as Tokubetsu-Hozon Tōken.
KANESADA (包貞), 1st gen., Manji (万治, 1658-1661), Settsu – “Kanesada” (包貞), “Sesshū-jū Fujiwara Kanesada”
(摂州住藤原包貞), “Echigo no Kami Fujiwara Kanesada” (越後守藤原包貞), “Echigo no Kami Kanesada”
(越後守包貞), real name Yamada Heidayū (山田平太夫), he was a successor of Yamato´s Tegai Kanesada lineage
(手掻包貞), he went to Ōsaka to study there under the 1st gen. Iga no Kami Kanemichi (伊賀守包道) who came
originally from Yamato too, a blade from the eighth month Kanbun four (1664) bears the signature “Echigo no Kami
Kanesada,”. i.e. had had received that title at the latest in 1664, dense ko-itame, some blades also show zanguri-hada, there
is masame in the shinogi-ji, suguha-hotsure in nioi-deki or nie-laden gunome-midare in tōran manner, the bōshi has hakikake, ryō
wazamono, jō-saku
