MOTOMITSU (基光), 1st gen., Enbun (延文, 1356-1361), Bizen – “Bishū Osafune Motomitsu” (備州長船基光),
“Bizen no Kuni Osafune-Jū Sahyōe no Jō Motomitsu” (備前国長船住左兵衛尉基光), first name Sahyōe no Jō
(左兵衛尉), according to tradition the son or the student of Kanemitsu (兼光), we know date signatures from the
second year of Kōei (康永, 1343) to the second year of Eiwa (永和, 1376), he worked in the style of his father or master
respectively, extant zaimei blades don´t show a noticeably wide mihaba or large kissaki, the jigane is an often standing-out
itame mixed with mokume, ji-nie, and chikei, the hamon is a ko-notare mixed with kataochi or otherwise angular gunome
elements in nioi-deki, in addition ashi, yō and ko-nie appear, the nioiguchi is broad and the bōshi is midare-komi with a ko-maru
